Sub-letting

The Sublet Property (Offences) Bill is a private members bill introduced in the House of Commons by Christopher Chope. The bill is intended to make the breach of certain rules relating to sub-letting rented accommodation a criminal offence; to make provision for criminal sanctions for unauthorised lettings.

The bill was expected to have its second reading debate on 20 October 2017 but this has now been changed to 1 December 2017. Shortly prior to the second reading debate we expect the bill to be published. Consequently, with publication delayed we cannot advise readers of the exact nature of the bill but we will update this post as soon as possible.

Comment

Subletting is an annoying problem for many landlords so if this bill is intended to help private landlords it will no doubt be very welcome.
